MUM: YOU AREN'T YOUR CHILD'S VOICE

I've got an ONLY AUTISTICS group. NTS CAN'T ENTER.

Still, daily, there are parents desperate to enter. I've had to reject them.

They say "my child/ granchild is Autistic" or "The neighbour has an Autistic kid". They say they want the best for the child.

BUT, WHEN THEY ENTER, WE SEE IT'S NOT LIKE THAT.

*They tell us which symbols and language to use (curiously, they´re the ones the Autistic Community HATES THE MOST)

*They say their child (or their known one's) "isn't like us"... Then, THEY START MENTIONING ABOUT THE LITTLE ONE'S BOWEL MOVEMENTS (and they never talk if their puppies have worms)... EVEN WITHOUT KNOWING WHO WE ARE, OR WHICH PROBLEMS WE FACE. THEY JUST SEE OUR ONLINE-FACES.

*       THEY CENSOR OUR DIFFERENT OPINIONS, CALLING US NASTY, SASSY AND MEAN.

*THEY´RE HOMOPHOBIC, SEXIST, ISLAMOPHOBIC, ABLEIST (of course) OR OTHERWISE BIGOTED.

And most nauseus part...

THEY SAY TO BE THEIR CHILDREN'S VOICES.

THEY AREN'T. CHILDREN HAVE RIGHT TO A VOICE. EVEN NONSPEAKING CHILDREN (and adults) think. THEY JUST CAN'T EXPRESS IT THE WAY YOU WISH.

I'll tell you this way:

Imagine you want to go to Paris. You've heard wonders about it, and are really excited to go.

Suddenly, there´s a huge turbulence in the plane, so you have to land in GERMANY. AND YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE VANISH.

Tell you what: Germany has beautiful stories too. Nature, Medieval and WW2 stories, with touches of fantasy, Urban life, Gastronomy, Museums, Beaches, Theme   Parks... You'll be fascinated!!

I've done a post about AAC. There's so many options... You're child and you need to find a voice  (insert pronoun) can use. ONLY THAT  WAY YOU CAN BE AN ALLY, BECAUSE THE MOST TRUTHFUL EXPERIENCE IS OURS.

COMMUNICATION IS A HUMAN RIGHT. GIVE IT TO YOUR CHILD. (insert pronoun) deserves it because (insert pronoun) is a person.

15 Reasons to NOT support Autism $peaks.

Well... this post is important… I know it will be highly polemical… But it's necessary. And now that i've got the spoons (we'll talk about it later) to tell it, i will. Unfrtunately for the big mayority of the Autistic Community, Autism $peaks is the greatest Autism Charity in the USA. MOST OF US HATE THIS "CHARITY". And here are a few reasons you should NEVER support them. 1. They show Autistic kids as burdens to their families, as "ghosts" and other REALLY STIGMATIZING analogies. No kid deserves that kind of rethoric (they have even described us as monsters). Even non-vocalizing or COMORBIDLY intellectually disabled Autistics are people and JUST BECAUSE OF THAT deserve as much respect as EVERYONE ELSE. 2. They use functioning labels. Simply, FUNCTIONING LABELS DON'T WORK. Due to them, "low functioning" individuals (commonly those who are non-vocalizing or depend on someone due to COMORBITIES)  are pitied, while "high-functionin
